MCM Lighting – Lara Elbaz Lighting Design – Gildemontes

The lighting project is a tribute to the wine of Jerez, which, over the centuries, has determined the development of the city. It has been the reason why its palaces, convents, churches and civil buildings have flourished, those that today convey the rich history of the city. Conceived in the form of 3 night routes that illustrate each historical stage of the city. It is divided into two lines of action: the light as a guide for each route through the city and the light highlighting in its passage the beauty of the buildings and their environments, showing its architecture and telling its history. On the one hand, a Grape of light, as a banner and shared by the 3 routes, with the only difference in the color of the light that will be specific to each route and that will indicate in a simple and clear way in which Route we are. The colors used correspond to those of sherry, Fino, Oloroso and Amontillado wine. On the other hand, light projections, which will be placed on different supports: floor, wall or ceiling, depending on the urban framework and always respectful to the City and citizens. The light projections will be different on each route: Route 1 called Origins of Wine in Jerez. Route 2, Guild versus wine industry. Our baroque Jerez Route 3 Jerez capital of Wine. Contemporary period. The second line of action refers to the lighting of buildings and monuments. A detailed analysis of each of them has been carried out to translate them at night with fidelity and respect, preserving their value. Each building is illuminated according to its architectural characteristics and a balance and visual order is sought between the buildings and their surroundings. A series of basic criteria has been established that will define the actions on buildings and their environments. In addition to the technical aspects, an approach is added that considers subjective aspects, more related to sensations and emotions. With this project, we want to increase the sense of identity and pride of the people of Jerez and offer unique experiences to both them and visitors.
