The City is nestled in between the mountains, this is why the sinuous relief of the place results in a hierarchy in the views.
During the day, the City conquers your eyes with its churches, monuments and houses with a particular and ancient feeling. The arrow streets become a maze in between the roofs. The Great wall, imposing protection structure. The mountain range, that depending the season of the year changes color, accompanied by the blue of the sky and the sound of the Guadalaviar river appearing and disappearing.
At night, the monuments, bell towers and the Great Wall start hiding and the City is bathed in a soft, discreet and elegant moon light .
It wasn’t our intention to illuminate the night as if it was day time, because we think it is a mistake to try to imitate the features and nuances that only sunlight can achieve. On the other hand, we studied how the light behaves and used the characteristic lines of the architecture of Albarracín as a tool, to lit this wonderful city in the right way.
Vertical Lines, are the towers, bell towers and buttresses of the buildings and walls of Albarracín. They represent hierarchy, power and the sacred.
Horizontal lines, are the streets and roofs of homes. They represent union, balance, order.
Joining them, we create an interesting plot of horizontal and vertical lines, which will form the city as a whole illuminated at night.
We assign lighting levels, color temperatures and light and shadow contrasts, following a conceptual and hierarchichal plan.
