This is a public tender for the city of Pittsburgh, where the proposal was a combination of Lighting Design and Smart City. A team of several companies and organizations was formed where solutions and proposals from all angles were provided to meet the needs of the City on these issues. Regarding the lighting design, a proposal for the Lighting Master Plan was developed taking into account all the elements of the city. The city has a very characteristic topography where three rivers converge in a central point called the Golden Triangle, epicenter of maritime commerce in the past and economic center in the present. The city extends in all directions from this point following the rivers. Known as the City of Steel, the presence of countless steel structures and bridges is noticeable, filling it with a very particular historical character. The lighting concept for the City is based on using the three rivers and their structures as unifiers of the three zones of the city. It is achieved by a degradation from cold blue color temperatures when accessing the City, passing through the neutral white until it turns to a golden white in its epicenter, following the allusion to the Golden Triangle. Apart from beautifying and unifying Pittsburgh, it serves as a macro-scale orientation. Together with this concept, action is carried out in the different roads and spaces in the City, where an activation of the nightlife and socialization is promoted.
